Price the whole car, not just the payment
A low monthly payment can hide a long term, higher interest cost, or a vehicle that is expensive to insure and maintain. Add insurance quotes, fuel estimates, registration, and routine maintenance to your budget before you negotiate.
Compare financing separately from the purchase
Know your credit profile and compare loan offers so you can evaluate the dealer’s financing against other options. Focus on APR, term length, total amount financed, and any fees—not only the monthly payment.
Leave a cushion for repairs
Even newer vehicles need tires, brakes, and unexpected fixes. Setting aside a small auto maintenance reserve can prevent a repair bill from becoming high-interest debt.
