Spend only what you can repay

Credit cards are convenient, but carrying a balance usually means paying interest. A practical habit is to treat card purchases like debit spending—only charge what your budget can repay by the due date.

Watch utilization and due dates

Using a large share of your available credit can weigh on credit scores even if you pay on time. Setting calendar reminders or autopay for at least the minimum—and ideally the full balance—helps avoid late fees and score damage.

Review statements for fraud

Check transactions regularly and enable alerts for purchases. Report unauthorized charges promptly using the contact methods on the back of your card or your financial institution’s official channels.
